A Dog’s Life.
I have just been reading in the news that the amount of people abandoning their pets is on the rise. You would have thought that it would actually be decreasing. Surely, in this day and age we are all far more clued-in with this sort of thing. Aren’t we?
Everyone has heard the famous; ‘A dog is for life, not just for Christmas’ slogan. So why is it that so many people still give animals as gifts? It’s all a bit stupid really. If someone wants to get a pet then the first thing they need to do is to ask themselves if it is a good idea. Will they be able to cope with the extra responsibility? Do they have the necessary patience to housetrain an animal? Can they afford to keep a pet? And are there any children in the house who need to be considered?
Those are the kind of questions which need to be considered. If people thought about it all, rather than just going off and buying an animal, then there would be far fewer unwanted pets. We all know how cute a kitten or a puppy can look and it is all too easy to buy one in the spur of the moment.
The whole thing really is horrible. Thousands of animals will need to be put down every single year merely because people have rushed into a decision. And why should cats and dogs suffer just because of our stupidity? It is estimated that one dog is put to sleep every hour in the UK alone. There is no way of justifying something like that. Obviously, if an owner dies then a pet will need to be re-housed, but in the majority of cases it is simply down to stupidity, cruelty or ignorance.
Another thing that I cannot stand at the moment is this new rise of websites and other companies that are claiming they are ’review’ sites and then using their standing on the web to completely obliterate another companies reputation if they will not pay to have it removed. I never thought this actually happened and then I came across this article on Enigin and started to look into it a little bit more.
I don’t think that I have ever seen one company that could make all of its clients happy, even Disney was accused of being racist! So yes I agree that sometimes these reviews are completely legitimate and someone actually did have a bad experience. Regardless, that is no excuse to completely tarnish someones reputation, and then have the cheek to charge them money if they want it removed!
Some things are just endlessly obscene, and I am starting to doubt if human compassion ever existed, much less where it has gone today!
