Oh no Lola! Woman dumps cat in bin

Now I am not, and I am the first to admit it, a cat lover. I am in fact very much in the dog camp, sometimes, depending on the misses, even the dog house.
I was though outraged beyond belief, stunned in fact, by the actions of Mary Bale, a Coventry, England woman who dumped a cat in a bin.
As was reported on the BBC website at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-11087061 Lola, the cat, had been sitting on a wall beside her home, enjoying the day when the woman, a 50 something bank worker, stopped to stroke her. All seems at first quite normal, even touching.
After a few moments Mary Bale looks up and down the road and on seeing there is nobody around she opens the lid of a large bin beside her, picks up the cat by the scruff of the neck and dumps her in the bin, closing the lid and walking away at pace.
Now normally that would be the end of the issue for the lady apart from a few laughs to herself however the owner of the cat found her that evening, 15 hours later, after going looking for her and finding her trapped and feeling very sorry for herself. Hopefully she rustled up a few chicken recipes to make her happy again.
The owners however, rather than being left baffled, scrutinized their home security tapes and lo and behold the whole incident was caught on film.
When the film got published online it went viral pretty darned quick thanks to email marketing software and before long the authorities were given a name for the offender.
Worse though was to come after crowds gathered outside her house and police had to be called to protect her. Facebook even had to remove a page dedicated to calling for her death. Several other, not quite so violent in nature, facebook pages still exist and are growing fast as people discover what has happened and join in to register their disgust.
It seems people now do not have to take this sort of behaviour sitting down and can mobilise the forces of the many against the actions of the few.
The Police and animal protection agencies are looking into it. The police have said they do not intend to provide Mary Bale with any protection. I for one hope they have to go looking for her and find her stuck in a bin.
